For Mondadori Education, we delivered an extensive multimedia learning project comprising around 80 themed animated videos designed for integration into school textbooks across different educational levels, from lower secondary school to high schools and technical institutes. The aim was to make scientific content more accessible and engaging, using audiovisual language to improve understanding, visual memory and student interest.
The entire production process followed an interdisciplinary method involving educational design, accessible science writing, animation direction and sound design. Each film was conceived as a short educational story able to explain complex concepts in physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics or geography within a few minutes through a clear, linear and visually engaging style.The main challenge was to combine scientific rigour with accessible communication, transforming theoretical knowledge into dynamic visual experiences that are easy to absorb.
The 2D animations use a simple graphic language consistent with Mondadori Education’s editorial identity: harmonious colours, stylised characters and intuitive infographics support understanding without distraction. Every movement, transition and illustration was designed to maintain rhythm and clarity while respecting the cognitive pace of classroom learning. A voice-over that is educational but never monotonous guides viewers through each story, while sound design makes every sequence more immersive and memorable through effects that emphasise key moments and stimulate attention.
The accessible-science writing phase required particular care. Texts were developed to simplify scientific language without sacrificing precision, using a narrative tone close to the language of students and aligned with the educational principles of visual learning. Continuous collaboration with editors, authors and teachers ensured content accuracy and educational consistency, making the project fully integrated into the learning curriculum.
The result is a library of modern, accessible and stimulating educational videos that helps renew the way schools communicate knowledge. By combining technological innovation with educational value, the project demonstrates how audiovisual content can become a true extension of the textbook, translating complexity into clarity, theory into experience and lessons into stories that inspire curiosity and participation.
